Who
is Hue?
The "Hue" on our
sign isn't actually anyone's name. It looked good on
paper. Of course,
anything witty becomes much less so when you need to explain
it. It turns out that people just don't use the word "hue"
very often, the way we artists do. People mostly assume it's
a name, like "Hugh Grant". In our gallery
there's just a "Heidi" and a "Joe" and more recently a
"Hope", so most customers ask if Joe is Hue. This is only
fair, because Me & Hue was his bright idea for a name
anyway. Joe then explains the name at length which takes all
the wittiness out of it (see above). So many people call him
Hue that he sometimes gets testy, especially since he
brought this on himself. There goes the friendly and
welcoming aspect out the window. This is why we're
artists, and not advertising executives. Anyway, call it
what you will, it is a cool and funky shop. So stop
by, and don't forget to ask Joe if he is Hue... He turns the
neatest hue of red.
"Hue" is just another name for color.
"Me & Hue" was supposed to be a witty way to express the
idea of an artist or customer & their relationship with
color, or something clever like that. We also thought that
sounding like "Me & You" was sort of friendly and
welcoming.
